The effect of kindergarten attendance on school performance

The main drawback of the Russian educational culture is the fallacy we inherited from the Soviet and post-Soviet period, according to which each of us has the same chance to achieve something. In this case, the main condition for achieving the goals is considered to be exclusively the perseverance and the ability to work of each individual.

However, modern research has shown that not only the perseverance of a person is of great importance, but also the environment in which he was brought up. Indeed, the positive and negative qualities of man, granted to him by nature, begin to exert their influence on his future in the first year of life.

That is, the social status and financial capabilities of parents, including their education, have a great influence on the level of mental development of children. In this connection, a logical question arises: why does this happen, and what can be done so that a child can avoid life “failures” in the future?

GOOD SCHOOL ESTIMATIONS BEGIN IN KINDERGARTEN

There is a theory that children who do not have preschool education have a reduced level of preparation for school. And this theory has been confirmed empirically. And this means only one thing: the children go to the first grade almost unprepared and at the beginning of the training they lag behind their peers. Moreover, this lag in studies lasts throughout the entire educational process at school.

Based on this, we can conclude: if, in preparing for school in a preschool institution, children are trained in special programs, then we can have a significant impact on both the overall development of children and their readiness to study at school (respectively, and the level of academic performance child).

THE WORD OF SCIENTISTS
In an effort to identify the dependence of preschool education and good learning outcomes at school, scientists conducted studies in which about 2,000 children born in 1997 and 1998 took part. The result of the study was quite unexpected:
Children whose parents received a low level of education showed poor school preparation. These results did not change during the first year of study. Accordingly, with a higher level of education at parents, children have better indicators.
Children from families with a low level of education, attending kindergartens in the last year before school, were able to increase their academic performance. At the same time, children from families with a good education almost did not change their results.
The level of academic performance of children who went to specialized or private preschool institutions, and those who attended the most ordinary kindergartens, does not differ.
Moreover, the difference in the level of preparation for school for children from uneducated and educated families who went to preschool institutions is very small. And vice versa, children who did not go to preschool institutions showed completely opposite results. At the same time, children from uneducated families show negative results in the entire learning process.

Carrying out their experiment, scientists did not forget to take into account other factors: the sex of the child, weight at birth, financial situation, age of parents and others.

LACK OF EDUCATION SHOULD NOT BE TRANSFERRED BY INHERITANCE
After reviewing the results of the research, the following conclusion can be drawn: a visit to a preschool institution has a positive effect on the level of preparation of the child for school and his academic performance, especially if this is a child from an uneducated family.

In other words, if parents were not able to get a good education at one time, but dream that their children would have more chances to achieve success in life, then it is vital for them to take care of the good pre-school education of their child. For children whose parents are educated and have a high level of mental development, the need for pre-school education is not so critical, because with some effort, mothers and fathers can prepare their child for school on their own.
